The Concho clay studio at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts to open this month
SAN ANGELO, Texas – The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts (SAMFA) announces the opening later this month of the Concho Clay Studio, a fully-equipped ceramics studio that offers pottery and clay sculpture classes to adults, according to a release from the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts on Friday.
According to the release, the Concho Clay Studio operates as a branch of the museum’s educational programming and our primary focus is to provide arts education for adults.
The studio also offers one-off events for the community: visits to artists’ studios, meeting nights and holiday sales. We offer ceramic youth programming through the museum’s educational studio.
The studio is currently seeking nonprofits, schools, and local organizations to partner with for community outreach programs in art therapy, arts mentoring, arts education, and professional development.
The Concho Clay Studio is also partnering with Howard College to offer regular eight-week ceramic classes for adults starting October 19, 2021. Any adult can enroll in these continuing education classes. Initial classes in wheel throwing, pottery and clay sculpture will be taught by Ariel Bowman, the director of the ceramics studio.
