stroll through Elsong Gardens at the Biedenharn Museum
MONROE, La. (KLFY) – This is the second part of our special Biedenharn Museum and Gardens. The museum, located in Monroe, has three exhibits, including the Elsong Garden.
Ralph Calhoun, executive director of the museum, shows off his favorite spot in the garden, an âOh wowâ moment.
Calhoun says Emma Louise, daughter of Joseph Biedenharn, planted flowers when she lived in the house, giving birth to the museum’s garden today.
âI always said that Joe had no idea what Emma Louise was going to do with her little garden and so over time she developed what we had today. She planted a lot of flowers and later she brought in a landscape architect and they designed what you see today, âCalhoun explains.
Now this garden is open to the public and improvements have been made over the years.
Throughout the year, this garden is alive with events. It is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
