The Grade II * listed dream house was built by MP Ripon – and son of disgraced Chancellor of the Exchequer John Aislabie – William Aislabie for his daughter Ann Sophie.

Among the former owners of Kirkby Fleetham Hall was Edward Courage of the Courage brewing family.

It was a hotel and is listed on its website as a venue for weddings and other receptions.

The property includes a separate one bedroom shed, stables, paddocks, garages and an office.

Knight Frank markets the property.

The estate agent said: “Kirkby Hall is one of North Yorkshire’s most impressive country houses and private residences …

“The property has an abundance of character and charm dating back to its origins and such examples include the beautiful fireplaces and framing, the incredible staircase and the cornices and friezes on the ceiling.”
