New Punjab Governor Visits Golden Temple Memorial
The new governor of Punjab Banwarilal Purohit paid tribute to the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Wednesday.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) welcomed the governor and honored him with syrupas and a miniature of Sri Darbar Sahib.
“I came to Sri Harmandir Sahib for the first time to pay homage and I also listened to the divine hymns. I am very relieved to be here and my sincere wish to visit Darbar Sahib has been granted, ”Purohit said.
The governor later paid homage to Jallianwala Bagh. He did not comment on the controversy over the renovation of the Bagh.
He then paid homage to the Durgiana temple where he was honored by the temple committee with a picture of the temple.
PHSC President condemns Bagh renovation
Punjab Health System Corporation (PHSC) chairman and former national vice president of Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Sangathan (Indian government), Amardeep Singh Cheema, sharply criticized the “tinkering of the center with the historic monument of Jallianwala Bagh” .
“It’s in the true event management style of the Modi government by putting on a garish laser show in National Martyrs Square and transforming this sacred monument on the model of the Disneyland theme parks.”
“The Congress Party, during the freedom struggle, made many sacrifices while leading the nation against barbaric British rule and then raised money to erect a monument. Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru followed by President Babu Rajendra Prasad inaugurated the historic Jallianwala Bagh memorial. The decision of the Modi government is to downplay the great efforts of the Congress party by erasing historic marks under the guise of renovation.
It is reprehensible. These are constant efforts by the BJP-led NDA government to rewrite history. “
“The renovation of Jallianwala Bagh is a clear attempt to forget about history. If a government does not know how to respect and preserve historic places, how can it effectively manage a country? Cheema asked.
