‘Grid history’ – Ligue 1 expert claims transfer of Tottenham’s future at 28
French football expert Adam White has told The Transfer Tavern that Serge Aurier is unlikely to return to PSG this summer.
The Ivorian left the French capital to join Tottenham in 2017 for £ 23million.
However, the right-back never quite settled into English football and was a part of the squad often during their four seasons in north London.
And with Aurier’s deal expiring next summer, he has once again been heavily linked with Tottenham and is one of many players on Fabio Paratici’s transfer list.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Aurier hinted that he wanted to return to PSG and reunite with former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, who replaced Thomas Tuchel earlier this year.
But PSG recently signed Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi, meaning he would only be a replacement if he moved to Parc des Princes.
With that in mind, White said The Transfers Tavern that he would be surprised to see Aurier again in France:
“Aurier was talked about at the start, but Hakimi’s signing from Inter Milan probably spoiled that to some extent.
“Aurier already has a slightly turbulent history at PSG, and I personally think he’s a bit of a handicap, so it would be a surprise to see him sign for PSG now after Hakimi has arrived.”
