Friends of Cabildo invites the public to share museum memorabilia in honor of the 65th anniversary

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Do you have a favorite memory of the Cabildo or the Presbyterè? Perhaps your first visit to these majestic museums was on a school trip; perhaps you have had the joy of sharing the rich history of the exhibitions with the younger generations of your family.

Les Amis du Cabildo (FOC) invite you to share your memories of one of the properties of the Louisiana State Museum in New Orleans (the Cabildo, the Presbyterè, the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Old US Mint, the 1850 House and Madame John’s Legacy) as the organization celebrates its 65th anniversary.

“The rich history of our region is represented by these museums, and the stories told through their exhibits ensure that future generations will continue to learn the importance of preserving our culture,” said Robert J. Cangelosi, Jr., past president of FOC and the author of the New Orleans Architecture Book Series. “In honor of Friends’ birthday, we look forward to hearing from our neighbors as well as visitors what memories were most meaningful to them.”

Additionally, the FOC will share content from across the organization’s history via social media starting October 20. History fans are invited to follow the FOC and participate in these posts on Facebook, Twitter (@cabildofriends) or Instagram (@friendsofthecabildo).

Memories can be shared online at; or via social media using # friendsofthecabildo65. For more information, please contact Jason Strada at (504) 523-3939 or [email protected]
