Bryant University Announces Historic Convocation Center and Arena, Offering a Premier Venue for Athletics Championships and State-of-the-Art University and Dining Facilities
SMITHFIELD, RI – Bryant University Vision 2030 strategic plan confirmed Bryant’s unparalleled institution-wide commitment to educating students to be ready for the real world for success and superior results with a focus on delivering a transformational education and campus life experience, competitive athletics, and unparalleled return on investment in education. The University plans to open new facilities, including an iconic convocation center and arena for its NCAA champion DI Bulldog Athletics and a new dining hall, in 2023.
The Bryant Convocation Center and Arena is designed by Sasaki Associates as a first sports facility with state-of-the-art features for the NEC Champion men’s college basketball team, a welcoming venue for the performing arts and a center for campus-wide activities, including commencement and convocation. The Convocation Center will be adjacent to Bryant’s premium Bulldog Strength and Conditioning Center, part of the David M. ’85 and Terry Beirne Bulldog Stadium complex. Funding for the project will include significant philanthropy.

This convocation center and arena, coupled with significant investment in student life, residential living facilities, and a planned major investment in academic buildings, will make Bryant University’s secure 428-acre campus a destination for talented students from across the country and around the world. . When completed, Bryant’s summon center:
Establish a home of choice for Bryant Basketball and Volleyball sports, including a competition field, locker rooms and support spaces
Provide a venue for graduation and graduation ceremonies that can accommodate the entire student body of 3,500 graduate and undergraduate students
Provide a venue for student life events, including an innovative black box theater, a soundproof concert hall, and a setting for the performing arts, including theater and dance
Provide a multipurpose facility to support academic, conference and special event programming
Create a welcoming place for campus visitors and prospective students
Serve as an emergency shelter in times of disaster and a place of refuge in times of crisis.
Designed to accommodate gatherings of up to 4,400 attendees with a combination of 3,400 fixed seats and up to 1,000 seats that can be added to the event floor when configured with a large stage
Bi-tier seating with retractable fixed seats, allowing a lower bowl to accommodate up to 2,500 people while an upper tier can add another 900 fixed seats. This allows the University to present events such as the basketball competition in the lower bowl, with the capacity to expand to 3,400

Fitted with state of the art rigging, lighting and sound systems for mixed use.
The Bryant Convocation Center and Arena is a landmark project that will enhance Bryant’s transformational experience and build on Bryant’s strong spirit and collegiate community.
